Ultherapy Q & A
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is a noninvasive, FDA-approved procedure that your provider uses to tone, tighten, and smooth your skin. Ultherapy gets its name from its use of specialized ultrasound technology. The innovative ultrasound technology provokes new collagen and tissue growth and gives you a more youthful appearance without needles or surgery.
What can I expect from an Ultherapy treatment?
Your provider conducts your Ultherapy session in the privacy of your own treatment room. You’ll recline and get comfortable while your provider glides the ultrasound device over your target areas.
As the device deploys energy into your skin’s deepest layers, you may feel pressure or vibrations. The procedure itself takes no more than an hour and doesn’t require any downtime, although there is a possibility for some temporary side effects, such as swelling, bruising, tingling, and tenderness.
Am I a good candidate for Ultherapy?
At your consultation, your provider reviews your health history, looks closely at your skin, and talks to you about your goals for your appearance. If you have saggy, loose, or wrinkly skin and are in good health, Ultherapy may be a solution for you.
What parts of the body respond to Ultherapy?
Aging skin can happen anywhere on your body and Ultherapy is approved by the FDA to treat the following areas:
- Chin
- Chest
- Neck
- Face
- Eyebrows
Ultrasound technology is especially useful to boost new collagen production in those areas that respond well to heat energy.
When will I see results from Ultherapy?
Since Ultherapy activates new collagen growth, it takes a while for the regenerative effects to kick in fully. You may look better within a day or two, but your best results aren’t fully visible until about three months after your treatment and can take as long as 6 months.
How many treatments do I need?
Most of All Island Dermatology’s patients only need one Ultherapy session to get significant and lasting results. If your wrinkles or sagging skin is especially severe, you may need an additional treatment.
To put Ultherapy to work for you, call All Island Dermatology to book a consultation or use the online scheduling feature to make an appointment today.
